Voice Tracks

Voice Tracks lets presenters record show links without going live. A voice track can be placed before a specific track or queued into a talk-break slot in a clock.

Record or upload a voice track

Step 1 has two tabs. Record uses your browser microphone. Upload an MP3 takes a link produced elsewhere — MP3 only, 30 seconds or less; longer files are refused before anything is sent.

Either way the take goes through the same trimmer and enhancer, so preview the audio, give it a clear title, then save. Titles should include the show or purpose so old links remain searchable.

Place it in the show

Step 2 asks three separate questions, and it is worth reading them as three:

• Attach it to — a playlist, or one show. A playlist scope follows the playlist rather than a date, so it keeps working every time that playlist runs. A show scope is one airing on one date.
• Before / After / Talk break — before or after a specific track, or queued for the next talk-break slot in a clock.
• How often — once, then it is used up; or every time its track comes round.

The sentence under the buttons spells out the combination you have chosen in plain English. If it does not describe what you meant, change the buttons rather than trusting the labels.

Playlists versus clock shows

A playlist reaches air in two different ways, and the difference decides whether a voice track attached to that playlist is heard.

Sometimes the playlist is what is on air: a scheduled playlist show, general rotation, or fallback duty. Other times a clock pulls a single track out of it — a clock does not run a playlist, its slots draw one track at a time from one. So "play this intro before that song in Gold" has two readings, and the placement panel asks which you mean:

• Play it there too (the default) — the voice track also airs when a clock show pulls that track out of the playlist. This is what makes a link behave the same inside a clockwheel hour as it does anywhere else.
• Not in clock shows — the voice track airs only while the playlist itself is on air. Clock shows dipping into the playlist are skipped.

Talk breaks follow the same rule. With clocks included, a break attached to a playlist fills the talk-break slots of any clock that uses that playlist; with them excluded it waits for a playlist show.

The placed voice-track list says which one each row is — *clocks included* or *not in clock shows* — so a link that is not airing where you expected can be diagnosed from the table rather than guessed at.

Attaching to one show instead is unaffected by this. A single airing is a single airing whether that show runs a clock or a playlist.

Edit the mix

Open the mix editor to set how the voice track overlaps the previous song, how early the next track starts underneath, and the voice gain. Preview before saving when timing matters.

Keep links current

Remove expired links and seasonal mentions. A clean voice-track queue avoids outdated announcements appearing in future repeats.
